Bought the Family pack, worked fine on my 24" iMac with an OPTIARC drive, but when I went to install on my wifes machine with a Matsushita drive it keeps failing.

Can you guys report that you're having these problems with Matsushita drives?

I'm in Australia and just returned from a large national retailer who said that all Snow Leopard discs they sold were returned the next day. He removed them from the shelf and is no longer selling them.
