Gas leak stopped

Well it’s 10.30 and the Fire Dept is packing up. They’ve shut of the gas and patched the damage. A very prompt response. Well done guys.

An eventful day thanks to gas leak in Maryborough CBD

Well that was an interesting start to the day. After a strong smell of gas, a hissing sound coming from a broken pipe in the vacant land behind our shop in Bazaar Street, the neighbour and myself were standing in the carpark trying to decide what we should do when a couple of blokes drive past and light up a cigarette. Well, decision made. Rang 000. They came down and started spraying foam on the pipe. The owner of the land then showed up asking who was responsible for calling the Fire Dept. I said I was, to which he replied… “Bit of overkill isn’t it?”

My God! If a gas leak and naked flames don’t constitute an emergency, what does?

New office & new website

It’s been a time of change recently. Big things have been happening. New offices, new websites and a new outlook. Let’s start with the site: www.sensestudios.com. As for the new outlook, well, let’s just say we’re focussing on the positive things in life.

Apple’s response to faulty Snow Leopard disks

“Apple Support is arranging for pickup on Monday and have indicated that my replacement disc will only be shipped 1 to 2 days after receiving the returned item. So that puts Snow Leopard on my MacBook on Thursday at the earliest.”

Apple’s response to this issue seems to vary from… “you must’ve scratched the disc, we won’t be issuing a replacement” to “Sure, here, take this one” Personally I’ve been told to expect a wait of 2-3 days before the replacement disc is shipped.

Even Apple’s Support Forum presents different takes depending on who you talk to.

Snow Leopard installation goes badly!

Being one of the first on the planet (due to timezones) to receive my retail copy of MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD I must say things haven’t gone too well so far…

I very carefully inserted the disc and read all the instructions. I’ve tried the default and custom install options. To no avail. It just won’t install. Every time I attempt the upgrade it claims the disc is dirty and that I need to carefully clean the disc and try again. Which is ridiculous because the surface is like a pristine mirror. I can’t boot from the DVD holding C because it refuses to proceed past the initial Apple Logo and the drive keeps seeking. My only conclusion can be that the disc is faulty! I’ve restarted, disabled all virus software and auto-startup programs. It gets to roughly 30 of the 191 packages (according to the log) and then throws the same error. Argh!

“There is a problem reading the Mac OS X Install DVD. Carefully clean the disc and try again.”

I really hope this is just a dud disc and is not indicative of the whole batch. (From what I can read the batch number on the disc is… B09 000119 and was pressed in Singapore)

Anyway it’s disappointing that the process doesn’t work. I was really looking forward to getting into Snow Leopard.

Argh! I'm sick of seeing this window!

I remember having this exact idea when I was about 12. Congrats to the creators! This is extremely cool!
